BJP suspends Lehar Singh Siroya for criticising Advani - Times of India

NEW DELHI: BJP has on Friday suspended party's Karnataka unit treasurer Lehar Singh Siroya for his attack on party stalwart L K Advani. The party's Karnataka unit chief Prahlad Joshi announced in Bangalore on Friday evening that Siroya was being suspended from the party and relieved from the post treasurer with immediate effect. The party is learnt to have given Siroya seven days to explain his position before it takes further action against him. The party also declared that Siroya's allegations a gainst Advani were completely "baseless" and "false." Siroya, considered a close aide of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who broke away from BJP and formed his own outfit, Karnataka Janatha Paksha (KJP), in an open letter had alleged that Advani had compromised on corruption issues within BJP on earlier occasions but refused to do so in case of BSY, who had to be removed from the post of chief minister for being involved in land scam cases in the state. Siroya reacted in a letter written to Advani, copies of which he also sent to party chief Rajnath Singh, general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal and Dharmendra Pradhan who has been general secretary in-charge of Karna taka, after Advani wrote a blog on May 12 on the party's defeat in Karnataka polls. In the four-page letter, Siroya had alleged that on several occasions earlier Advani had overlooked corruption in the party, but he refused to do so in the case of Yeddyurappa.
