JAIPUR: BJP national president Rajnath Singh on Saturday claimed that there is no threat to the NDA and not only would the NDA family extend, it would also come to power. Reacting to senior BJP leader L K Advani's advice of a stronger NDA, Rajnath Singh, while interacting with the media in Jaipur on Saturday said: "It a fact that the NDA needs to be strengthened and it will not only get stronger but also expand. Lead by the BJP, NDA will come to power in the country.'' Singh again demanded that the Uttarakhand flood should be announced a national calamity. When pointed out that the Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had said there was no such need, he said, "I don't want to make a political issue about this. However, rescue operations and relief measures will get a major boost if announced as a national calamity,'' he said, adding that party's national level jail-bharo aandolan against misuse of CBI by the Congress and corruption, which was scheduled the next week, has been postponed. Singh who was in the city to attend the national conference 'Challenges Before Minorities' organized by ETV Urdu, later also met BJP state president Vasundhara Raje at her official residence. During the conference, State Commission for Minorities Mahir Azad posed a question in very indiscipline manner to BJP president while he was leaving the conference after delivering his address. Singh in his address had said Muslims are not facing any kind of discrimination in the BJP-ruled state. As he was leaving the dais, Azad loudly demanded to known about non-delivery of scholarships for the minorities to the beneficiaries in Gujarat, which Rajnath Singh chose to ignore. Accompanied by BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain and local BJP leaders, Rajnath Singh walked away. BJP state minorities president, Amin Pathan ran up to Azad along with his BJP workers and challenged him. Seeing situation taking an ugly turn, the community elders present in the hall requested Azad to leave. The BJP leaders claimed that as it was a local issue, Rajnath Singh, who is their national president, did not need to give an answer. Rajnath Singh in his address had also assured complaints of the minorities will be redressed by the BJP in order to win over their confidence. "Our party is above religion and caste. We give equal respect to all and treat them as Indians,'' he said. ![]() via Top Stories - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNF2bW8wel-Nu8ZMFzNA7vqOC6xTMw&url=http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/NDA-will-become-stronger-Rajnath/articleshow/20721749.cms | |||
