J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire for the third time in a day - IBNLive

Poonch: The Pakistan Army fired across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night, violating the ceasefire with India for the third time in a day. The firing was reported around 10 pm in Degwar area of Poonch. Three Indian Army posts were targeted. This is the fourth instance of violation of ceasefire by Pakistan in two days. Earlier in the day, the ceasefire was violated by Pakistani forces in Mendhar area of Poonch. Ten Indian Army posts, including the ones in Langot, Forward Balakot and Dera Basi, came under fire around 11.30 am. The firing was reported around 10 pm in Degwar area of Poonch. Three Indian Army posts were targeted. The first violation of the day was at the international border in Kanachak sector near Jammu. Pakistani soldiers fired at two posts of the Border and Security Forces (BSF). One BSF jawan was injured and taken to the Jammu Medical College for treatment. A BSF jawan injured in cross-border firing in Samba district on August 5 succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at AIIMS in New Delhi. The LoC in Jammu and Kashmir has been a hotspot since Tuesday when five Indian soldiers were killed in firing from the Pakistani side. Defence Minister AK Antony has said that specialist troops of the Pakistan Army were involved in the attack. The killings have sparked off intense outrage in India, with the Bharatiya Janata Party demanding that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh call off proposed talks with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif along the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York in September.
