Express news service : New Delhi, Sun Aug 11 2013, 03:17 hrs Amid heightened tension along the Line of Control (LoC) over the killing of five Indian soldiers, heavy firing lasting over seven hours was reported from the Pakistani side on Friday night. Pakistani troops targeted the same area of Poonch where the soldiers were killed early Tuesday. Thousands of rounds of ammunition were fired, including mortars, by Pakistanis at Indian Army posts. Indian soldiers fired in retaliation. There were no reports of casualties on either side. Sources said such ceasefire violations are expected to continue in the area over the next few days, and that Indian troops were entrenched to counter. In fact, instructions have been issued to restrict movement in open areas. Over seven hours on Friday night, Pakistani troops used more than 7,000 rounds of gun fire besides medium mortars in Poonch. "We used 18 rounds of mortar, besides over 100 rounds from grenade launchers and machine gun fire," an officer said. Pak U-turn Shahryar Khan, special envoy of the Pakistan PM, did a U-turn Saturday on his remarks admitting that Dawood Ibrahim once lived in the country. He said he had no idea of the whereabouts of the gangster. ALSO READTERMS OF USE: The views, opinions and comments posted are your, and are not endorsed by this website.
