New Delhi: Narendra Modi and Rajnath Singh will wrap up a working weekend today with a six-hour BJP brainstorming session to finalise campaign elements for the Assembly elections in four crucial states and general elections, now months away. Mr Modi, the BJP's election campaign chief, along with party president Mr Singh will take stock of how the 20 star studded election committees set up by the party last month are functioning. Top leaders will attend. The heads of the party's state units will also be present at today's strategy session - being called a mini-national executive of the party - to offer their suggestions. The Bihar unit has asked the party to formally name Mr Modi as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate for 2014. The BJP expects Assembly elections, due by the end of this year, to be notified by the third week of September and, sources said, Mr Modi is keen that all the elements of campaign and coordination be worked out by then. The party is also expected to announce by then that the Gujarat Chief Minister will be its presumptive PM, in an attempt to cash in on his popularity in the state elections too. Yesterday, flanked by other senior leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and the party chief, Mr Modi met all party spokespersons to formulate a media strategy. The Gujarat Chief Minister instructed the spokespersons to be better informed and armed with research when responding to questions. He also stressed on better coordination between central and state media cells. Mr Modi wants only experts in various fields to speak on those issues. He has reportedly suggested that not everyone needs to speak on every issue. Also, all the spokespersons have been instructed to raise issues that will put the ruling Congress in the dock. They have been told to make the Congress answer tough questions on its nine years of rule at the Centre. ![]() via Top Stories - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNFj85T-ia1lG6NNPn8ybUujtfWAdw&url=http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/narendra-modi-to-seal-bjp-s-forthcoming-elections-strategy-today-407206 | |||
