Pakistan ceasefire violations: Antony says Army is free to respond - IBNLive

New Delhi: Amidst continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control, Defence Minister AK Antony has said that the Army is free to respond. "Armed forces have the freedom to respond to developing conditions on the border appropriately," Antony said.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Pakistan must stop these violations. "Any tensions across the LoC are a cause of concern for us in Jammu and Kashmir, especially for the people who are living along the LoC. These violations are being done on behest of Pakistan," Omar said.

This came as more ceasefire violations by Pakistan were reported along the Line of Control, with the latest having taken place at 5 am on Monday. Pakistan violated ceasefire at Poonch brigade with intermittent firing all night on Sunday, while firing was on till Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Pakistan must stop these violations.

Earlier on Sunday night at 10 pm, ceasefire violation by Pakistan was also reported in Degwar in Poonch. Three posts of the Indian Army reportedly came under fire. This was the third attack on Sunday, while five violations by Pakistan have now taken place in the past 48 hours.

Earlier on the same day, there was a ceasefire violation in the Mendhar sector, which is also in Poonch district. Pakistani forces also targeted two BSF posts at the International border in Kanachak.

One jawan has been seriously injured. Meanwhile, another BSF personnel injured in cross-border firing in Samba district on August 5, succumbed to his injuries at AIIMS in New Delhi.
