Express news service : New Delhi, Mon Aug 19 2013, 03:28 hrs ![]() ![]() ![]() Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Abdul Karim 'Tunda' has told interrogators that he met Mohammed Hafiz Saeed just a few days before Independence Day and that he had met Dawood Ibrahim several times in the past. Tunda, held by Delhi Police on Friday, reportedly from the Nepal border, has also claimed that Pakistan's ISI was helping his operations and he was very sure Dawood too was protected by the agency. "Tunda told us that he was in-charge of recruiting, motivating (recruits) and providing explosives for the operations of the LeT. He is a very good speaker, which is why he was in demand by several agencies in Pakistan," said a senior police officer. Tunda is said to have also revealed his "connections" with Babbar Khalsa International chief Wadhwa Singh, who is believed to be hiding in Pakistan. Police claimed to have learnt through Tunda that post-2007, Singh had been using Tunda's well-networked operatives to smuggle in explosives through Bangladesh. Tunda was running a madrasa by the name of Mahaad-ul-Taleem-ul-Islami in the Bin Kasim Town area of Karachi and received massive funds from organisations and individuals in Pakistan, police said. He had reportedly bought a plot near his house in the same area recently to build another madrasa. Tunda allegedly also revealed details about a failed attack during the Commonwealth Games. He apparently told police that he managed to smuggle explosives to Bangladesh with the help of operatives Shamim and Abu Baqar in September 2010. "The explosives reached Bangladesh but the two operatives were caught by the Bangladesh police in Dhaka," a senior officer quoted him as saying.
