3.10 am:
The toll of injured persons in the fire at Mont Blanc has risen to seven persons -- which included four firemen and three residents, according to a report in the Financial Express.
Deputy chief fire officer, PS Rahangdale, told the newspaper, "We have confirmed six deaths. The fire brigade managed to rescue around 25 to 30 people. The building had all fire safety mechanisms, which greatly helped in preventing the fire from spreading to upper floors."
Municipal Commissioner Sitaram Kunte was on the spot to oversee rescue efforts.
A resident of the building Chandan Yadav, who lives on the sixth floor, is quoted as saying, "The fire broke out due to a short circuit in a flat where some repair work was going on. No one was living in that flat."
The building has one central lift, which 5-10 people used to get out of the building when the fire broke out. The lift was stopped soon after.
Earlier a source had told PTI that six persons were injured and quoted sources as saying that the fire was "under control".

A major fire that broke out on the 12th floor of a high-rise residential building in the southern part of the city this evening was brought under control by late night, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials said.
Six firemen were injured in the fire-fighting operation, but none of the residents were reported to have suffered injuries.
"There were some cylinders, which apparently exploded, injuring six firemen including two officers," sources said.
One of them was rushed to the Nair Hospital, while five others were taken to the Burns Hospital at Airoli in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, they said.
Asked to comment on reports that six people were killed in the fire, they said: "So far we only have reports of six injured in the fire."
None of the residents of the building were reported to have suffered injuries. 14 fire engines were rushed to the spot, sources said, adding that the cause of the fire was not yet known.
The blaze started in the 26-storey Mont Blanc building in posh Kemps Corner area this evening, a fire brigage official said terming it as a "major" fire.
Fourteen fire engines, seven water tankers and four ambulances were rushed to the spot. A resident told reporters that due to multiple cylinder bursts in the apartments, the fire spread across the entire floor.
The cause of the fire was not yet known.
Late in the night, a fire brigade officer said that fire was mostly put out, while BMC sources said was "under control".
Local Congress leader Amin Patel claimed that there were no casualties among the residents.
