The political resolution passed by the BJP at the end of its two-day state executive meet on Sunday, skipped mention of love jihad, indicating that the party wanted to avoid the controversial issue.

The party however made a clear bid at polarisation saying it was a matter of concern that attacks against 'one section of women' were on the rise.

"There is a 50% rise in rapes and those guilty are showing their strength but the Akhilesh government is discriminating on parameters of religion and caste. It is a matter of concern that those accused of rape are from a specific section and are targeting women from another section," the resolution said.

The political resolution alleged that due to atrocities on women, communal harmony was at stake.

The BJP, however, made a no holds barred attack on the state government, castigating it on issues ranging from atrocities on women in the state to unemployment, rising crime and power crisis.

The party decided to launch a mass movement against "religious appeasement, failing law and order situation and power crisis in UP."

It highlighted that during the 30-month SP rule, there had been 5148 murders, 1981 rapes, 3927 loot and theft cases, 4787 cases of goondaism and 754 cases of kidnapping. State officials had become puppets of political bosses, kidnapping was an industry in UP and even policemen were being killed, it said.

The resolution also targeted the state government on communal riots and said that notorious people were being patronised. "The cases of Kanth, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Faizabad speak volumes about appeasement," it alleged.

The political resolution also accused the SP government of being prejudiced after the debacle in parliamentary elections and taking political revenge.
