JAINGIPUR: Defence Minister Arun Jaitley Sunday said that Indian soldiers are ready to thwart Pakistan's aggression near the Indo-Pak border in the disputed Kashmir region.

"There have been series of provocation for the last two days but our armed forces at the Line of Control and Border Security Force at international border are fully protecting our territory and our people," Jaitley said at Jangipur.

Two civilians including a eight year old boy were killed by heavy gun firing by the Pakistan army.

"Whatever response are required are being adequately taken by them ( Indian army)," the defence minister said at MDI's Murshidabad campus, which was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday morning.

The Indian paramilitary border security force said Pakistani forces fired shots and mortar rounds near the border, killing two and injuring four others, including a trooper.
