The roadshow this morning will begin at the Valmiki Mandir from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched his Clean India Campaign last year and will end at Jantar Mantar, which has played host to many Kejriwal dharnas or protests.
The activist turned politician will present his party's vision for Delhi at the roadshow. Mr Kejriwal, who resigned as Delhi chief minister a year ago after only 49 days in office, has repeatedly admitted that quitting was a wrong move and has appealed to Delhi to give him another chance.Last night, the BJP acknowledged Arvind Kejriwal as the man to beat in Delhi, when it picked as its chief ministerial candidate not a seasoned party veteran but former top cop turned activist Kiran Bedi, who joined the party and also politics only four days ago.
Ms Bedi and Mr Kejriwal are both officials who became activists and have joined politics pledging to clean the system. They were the closest advisers to Gandhian activist Anna Hazare during his campaign for more accountability and transparency through new anti-graft laws, before falling out.
Mr Kejriwal invited Ms Bedi to a public debate this morning. "Congrats 4 being nominated as BJP's CM candidate. I invite u 4 a public debate moderated by neutral person n telecast by all," he tweeted.
There was much speculation on whether the BJP would also field Ms Bedi in a direct confrontation with Mr Kejriwaal in his New Delhi constituency, but BJP chief Amit Shah has opted to give the former IPS officer what is seen as a safe seat so that she can be free to campaign all over Delhi.
Against Mr Kejriwal the BJP is fielding Nupur Sharma, a young lawyer and graduate from the London School of Economics. Ms Sharma has been a BJP youth wing leader.
The Congress has put up former Kiran Walia to contest against Mr Kejriwal.
