Zee news Bureau Lucknow: In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday named former UP minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya and four others in connection with the killing of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zia-ul-Haq. According to reports, the CBI has registered a total of four FIRs in connection with the murder of Balipur village head Nanhe Yadav, his brother and the brutal murder of senior UP police official Haq. The FIR registered by the CBI names Om Srivastava, Gulshan Yadav, Guddu Singh and Rohit Singh, besides Raja Bhaiyya. However, it is still unclear as to when the central probe agency will arrest Raja Bhaiyya or summon him for questioning in the case. A ten-member team of the CBI today left for Pratapgarh's Kunda to continue its probe into the case. The centre government recently transferred the case to the CBI owing to intense political pressure from opposition parties accusing the SP government of shielding the culprits. - Following Haq's killing, his widow had demanded a CBI probe into the matter. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav not only yielded to her demand, but also asked the CBI to include the murders of village head and his brother into their probe. The "request letter" by the state government reached the CBI office late Wednesday, following which an approval was sought from the department of personnel and training (DoPT), said an official who did not wish to be named. Following a go ahead, the CBI formally registered a case in connection with the killings of Haq, village head Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh during violence at Balipur village in Pratapgarh district. Investigation into four first information reports (FIRs) filed in connection with the killings has now been taken over by the CBI. While two FIRs were lodged in connection with the murder of Nanhe Yadav and Suresh by their family members, two others were lodged by the police and the widow of the slain police officer. In the FIR lodged by the DSP's widow Parveen, she has accused former state minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya of conspiring to kill her husband. Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of CBI Anurag Garg is likely to visit Balipur today to take stock of the situation and proceed with the investigation.Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said the matter was now referred to the CBI and one should wait for the law to take its course. The chief minister had also visited the families of slain village pradhan (headman) Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh in Bilapur village of Pratapgarh. He also gave ex-gratia cheques of Rs 20 lakh each to the families of the deceased village pradhan, Nanhe Yadav, and his brother, Suresh Yadav. Both the men had been killed in Bilapur village of Kunda in Pratagarh.
