Boy shot, villagers vent ire on accused's house - Times of India

SHARE AND DISCUSS ROHTAK: Enraged over the gunning down of a Class X boy, some angry villagers ransacked the accused's house while torching three vehicles parked outside it in Meham town of the district on Sunday evening. Nitin Singh (15) was killed by four youths - all minors - during a religious function in their village on Saturday night. Sources said that one of them is a classmate of the victim, two others are studying in different schools and the fourth a Class 6 school dropout. Police said that the main accused called Nitin out of the function at around midnight. The accused was accompanied by three youths. After a while, a quarrel broke out between the victim and them. The youths caught hold of him while the main accused shot at him from point blank range with a countrymade pistol. The assailants fled leaving the victim in a pool of blood. Nitin died on the spot. His body was spotted by some persons when they came out of the function. The incident sent shockwaves across the village. The villagers cremated Nitin's body on Sunday evening. While returning from the cremation ground, a group of around 50 an gry persons barged into the house of the main accused and ransacked it. They also torched a car and a scooter. The family members, however, locked themselves inside the house and informed the police about the incident. DSP Meham Prithvi Singh said that the police immediately rushed to the spot and controlled the situation from turning ugly. The fire brigade also reached the house and doused the flames. The DSP said that all the four accused had been detained and further investigation has begun.
