Sharing a platform with Baba Ramdev here on Friday, Gujarat CM Narendra Modi praised the yoga guru as a "saint who has come face to face with the highest number of people across the country".

Addressing a gathering of seers and saints at a function organised by Baba Ramdev's Patanajali Yogpeeth on the occasion of the inauguration of 'Acharya Kulam' school in Haridwar, Modi referred to Gujarat as a riot-free state for the last 12 years and added that he always adhered to "sarve bhavantu sukhina, sarve santu niramaya (let all be happy and healthy)" and not just to "Hindu bhavantu sukhina.... (let only Hindus be happy)".

Telling the gathering about the "power of mass mobilisation of saints", he said, "It is unfortunate that we do not discuss our samarthya (potential). Without any intimation, crores of people reach Kumbh Mela. No management guru made an attempt to see this aspect. This is the power of saints." Modi said he could not visit the Kumbh Mela for the first time in his life and so missed an opportunity to have the "darshan" of the saints.

He said his decision to attend Friday's function had compensated for his absence in the mela to some extent. Highlighting the contribution of saints like Vivekanand and Narayana Guru, he said, "It is not politicians but saints who build this nation."
