3.51 pm: Sarabjit's family meets him at Lahore Hospital The family of Sarabjit Singh, after overcoming many hurdles, has finally met him at the Jinnah hospital in Lahore. They asked the India government to help them bring him to India for treatment even as doctors told them that the chance of his survival is slim. This comes amidt souring diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan as the neighbouring country denied consular access to him Sukhpreet, Sarabjit's wife, arrived in Pakistan this afternoon along with her daughters, Swapandeep and Poonam and Sarabjit's sister Dalbir Kaur. They were granted visas by the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi yesterday to visit Sarabjit. His counsel, Awais Shiekh, and members of civil society groups received them at Wagah. Sukhpreet said saving Sarbajit's life was the most important issue for her family. 2.20 pm: Sarabjit's family arrives in Pakistan Four members of the family of Indian national Sarabjit Singh, currently in a coma in a Lahore hospital following a brutal assault, crossed over to Pakistan via the Wagah land border crossing today. Sarabjit's sister Dalbir Kaur, wife Sukhpreet Kaur and daughters Swapandeep and Poonam, told the media on the Pakistani side that they would immediately go to Jinnah Hospital to visit him. Dalbir Kaur, who has travelled to Pakistan in the past to lobby political leaders for the release of Sarabjit, said she and other members of her family were visiting the country in sad circumstances. PTI 1.56 pm: LeT, Pak Taliban may responsible for attack In a shocking revelation, a report that has come to the government of India that suggests the attack on Sarabjit Singh may have been by the LeT or the Pakistan Taliban. Times Now reported that the attackers have confessed to investigators that it was infact 'a revenge attack' in response to India executing Ajmal Kasab. The reports suggest that Pakistan jails have prisoners who belonged to the LeT and the Taliban, who might have attacked Sarabjit 1.16 pm: Kin prays before leaving for Pakistan The family headed for Harmandir Sahib, the holiest of Sikh shrines in Amritsar, popularly known as Golden Temple, on Sunday morning to offer prayers before leaving for the Attari-Wagah international border between India and Pakistan, 30 km from Amritsar. "I request the government to make sure that he is given proper treament," said Sarabjit's sister. His daughter was hopeful that they would bring him back to India. "We are relieved that we will see him. I appeal to Indians to pray for him. We hope for that he will be fine soon," she said. Indian death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh went into a coma after a murderous attack on him by fellow prisoners in a Lahore jail on Friday, souring Indo-Pakistan ties further.
