In what could be the first serious reservation voiced against BJP president Rajnath Singh's new team, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday said that she has expressed her displeasure over non-inclusion of a woman member in the team of general secretaries, organisationally more influential than other teams where women have been accommodated.

"I have expressed my displeasure that you (Rajnath) have not included a woman among general secretaries. This is not good," Swaraj said in lighter vein in the presence of Rajnath while addressing a function organised by the BJP's women's wing at party headquarters on Wednesday. She also cited insufficient representation of women candidates for Karnataka Assembly elections.

Swaraj, however, did not fail to acknowledge that it was Rajnath who made 33 per cent women's reservation in organisational posts mandatory in his previous stint as the BJP chief.

Addressing after Swaraj, the BJP president sought her cooperation in getting more women candidates for elections, reminding that she was a member of the central election committee that finalises candidates.

"I would like to tell Sushmaji that I will need her support to get 33 per cent women candidates in the central election committee," he said.
