According to BJP leaders, including M Venkaiah Naidu, Modi is likely to address a public meeting in Visakhapatnam on May 1. "Modi will be campaigning in the Seemandhra region for two days, on April 30 and May 1," said a senior BJP leader.
Sonia Gandhi, on her part, is likely to campaign in support of the contestants in Visakhapatnam and its neighbouring districts on May 2. "We have reserved GVMC's Indira Priyadarshini Stadium in Vizag for the May 2 programme. But we are yet to announce it officially," Visakhapatnam district Congress party president Satish Varma told TOI .
Ahead of his visit to Vizag, Modi is scheduled to address a public meeting at Sri Venkeshwar a University grounds in Tirupati at 5 pm on April 30. On the same day, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Hindupur.
The BJP prime ministerial candidate will halt for the night in Tirupati and after having darshan at Tirumala and Srikalahasti on May 1, will address poll rallies in Madanapalle which falls under Rajampet Lok Sabha seat from where former Union minister Purandeswari is the BJP candidate, and Nellore (Rural) Assembly segment which falls under Tirupati Lok Sabha constituency from where the BJP has fielded its candidate. Nellore (Rural) is where BJP candidate Sananpapareddy Suresh Reddy is locked in a triangular clash with Congress nominee A C Subba Reddy and YSRCP's Kotamareddy Sridhar Reddy.
"Initially, the party planned Modi's tour across Seemandhra so that he would visit the constituencies where the BJP candidates are fighting. On the request of the TDP, the plan was slightly changed and Modi would address a public meeting in Gu ntur and Chandrababu Naidu is expected to share the dais with him," said Premender Reddy, convenor, BJP campaign committee.
Following the Guntur meeting, Modi is slated to take part in rallies to be held in Bheemavaram that falls under Narasapur Lok Sabha seat in West Godavari and Visakhapatnam. Narasapur and Visakhapatnam are the Lok Sabha seats from where the BJP is contesting. In all, the BJP is contesting four Lok Sabha seats leaving 21 seats to its alliance partner TDP.
The Congress leaders said the party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's rally in Hindupur is finalised and he would address a public meeting at 4.30 pm on April 30.
