The second day of a Dharma Sansad (religious conclave) held at Chhattisgarh's Kawardha district turned chaotic on Monday when Sai Baba devotees were heckled and ousted from the stage by followers of Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati.
The Dharma Sansad passed six resolutions that included construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya and incorporating the Ramayana, Bhagwad Gita and Mahabharat in the school syllabus.
The moment Sai followers began to state the Dharma Sansad of effectively doing nothing to prevent cow slaughter and neglecting major issues affecting the nation, the dharmagurus and sadhus on the stage got furious and interrupted the Sai devotees from speaking further.
Shankaracharya in response to claim of Sai devotees said that they had already launched agitation like fast and yatras to call a ban on cow slaughter.
They blamed the Sai devotees of digressing from the decorum expected for the occasion and tarnishing the reputation of Hindus saints.
The Sai devotees were heckled and driven out from the stage. The police immediately took the three devotees in their vehicle and left the venue.
The media incharge of the event, Rajesh Joshi told HT, these resolutions are for the Modi-led Centre to follow.
The two-day 19th Dharma Sansad began at Kawardha about 110 km north-east of Raipur on Sunday at the behest of Shankaracharya Swaroopanand, who had also earlier sent an invitation to the Saibaba Sansthan Trust to hold the dialogue process in an attempt to put an end over his assertion that Sai Baba shouldn't be worshiped as a Hindu God.
The Hindu saints representing the 13 Akharas supported Shankaracharya Swaroopanand view on the opening day and disapproved the existence of Sai Baba as God.
Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan Trust has refused to send any representative to Chhattisgarh to participate in the religious conclave attended by nearly 400 dharmacharyas, dharmagurus, seers of various panths.
