"BTC is an important area for BJP, and its performance in the recent polls will be raised before our president so that he gives us directions to consolidate our presence in the Bodo heartland ahead of the assembly polls in 2016," a senior BJP leader said.
He said the party had outlined the reasons why BJP could not perform well despite making all-out efforts in the run-up to the assembly polls. "Our president's advice will be crucial in rectifying mistakes and setting the course right," he added.
After the BTC fiasco, many BJP leaders have been saying that the party did not have sufficient time to make its organizational presence strong among the electorates in the Sixth Schedule administered area. They said that despite a pitched campaign launched by BJP, weak organizational presence in BTC was responsible for the party's performance.
"We did well in the Lok Sabha and the urban local bodies elections. BTC did not bring us the expected result. We are all, therefore, eager to make things right so that we can do well in the assembly polls," another leader said.
The party is gearing up for Shah's first visit to the state after he became national president.
"We are all looking forward to our national president's visit. It will boost the morale of workers ahead of the assembly election," BJP spokesperson Shiladitya Dev said.
