Rahul skips party meet a day after return - The Hindu

After his return from an extended sabbatical away from politics, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi chose not to attend a meeting of party leaders on Friday where farmers' problems and preparations for the 'kisan rally' on Sunday were discussed. He is scheduled to interact with farmers on Saturday morning.

However, sources confirmed that Mr. Gandhi was working on the speech he is expected to deliver at the rally, where he will attack the government for its "anti-farmer and anti-poor policies."

Meanwhile, intervening in the party debate about the desirability of Mr. Gandhi taking over as Congress president, senior leader Milind Deora asked leaders to stop making statements that could undermine chances of a comeback.
