Jammu: Curfew has been imposed in the entire Jammu region after riots violence spread to various areas in the city following the Kishtwar clashes that broke out on Eid. Even as the curfew continued in Kishtwar for the third day bringing the situation largely under control, protests and violence spread to other areas. Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri and Samba were also brought under the curfew. Clashes between the two communities affected traffic on Srinagar-Jammu-Pathankot national highway. Three people have been killed so far. The Amarnath and Machail yatra too were suspended for the day, forcing Chief Minister to appeal for peace. "I am using the channels of the media to appeal to the people of not to fall prey to rumours and allow these political parties to exploit the sentiment," Abdullah said.Even as curfew continued in Kishtwar for the third day bringing the situation largely under control, protests and violence spread to other areas. The separatists, state opposition and the BJP national leadership called for a bandh protesting the . An apparently nervous Omar government detained BJP leader at the Jammu airport. The state opposition leader too was restrained at her residence. The duo targeted Omar for showing laxity in controlling the widespread incidents of arson and violence."The government has been a silent spectator to the whole thing. They have been watching the situation doing nothing. That is one of the reasons the violence has flared up," chief Mehbooba Mufti said.BJP leader Arun Jaitley, who was detained at Jammu airport, said: "We were going there only to know the plight of the victims. If the state government din't want to allow us then why don't they allow the media to go there and find out the truth." Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir liberation front is planning to hold a peace march on Monday. The BJP has already announced a bandh in Jammu on Monday. The Kishtwar issue is likely to rock the Parliament on Monday with the BJP leaders questioning the state and Central government. Since the last three days, the administration is trying very hard to contain the Kishtwar violence but new problems are arising for the Omar government. Violence and clashes are spreading far and wide and the attitude of the politicians too is not helping.
