Expert divers of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) have been engaged to find possible survivors and bodies. However, only four bodies could be retrieved till Monday evening. While one body was found on Sunday night, three were found on Monday morning. All four bodies were spotted around 20km downstream from the accident site.
Bodies of the victims have been identified as those of Akula Vijetha, Banothu Rambau, Gampala Aishwarya and Lakshmi Gayatari Appanabhotla.
Meanwhile, taking suo motu cognizance of the tragic incident in Beas, Himachal Pradesh high court on Monday directed the state government to file a status report on the matter, latest by J une 16. The court also directed the project authorities to take all remedial measures so as to avoid any such mishap in future.
The high court registered the case as a public interest litigation after acting Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir took cognizance of the incident.
