MUMBAI: Facing law and order problem in the state due to controversial postings on social networking sites, the Maharashtra government on Monday demanded a ban on social networking sites like Facebook, but later restricted their demand to restrictions.
Discussing on the issue in the state assembly, Maharashtra deputy CM, Ajit Pawar on Monday said that like China has banned certain social media sites for a couple of years, "We too should think on those lines."
However, sensing that the statement could lead to controversy, he immediately corrected himself and said, "I am not asking for a ban but there should be some restriction on these sites to prevent their misuse,"said Pawar.
