Leh: The Chinese impasse in Ladakh has entered Day 11. As India continues to downplay the issue, Leh is unimpressed. More than the Chinese, the town and its bustling market have tourists on its mind. But even as normal life continues, they are blaming New Delhi for being soft on Beijing.

The Chinese haven't managed to scare away tourists from the Leh town and locals who are pleasantly surprised that the season has begun a month early hope that it stays that way. PT Kunzang of the tour operator association said, "Till date, the incursion is not an issue. But if the situation deteriorates there might be an impact. The government needs to resolve this issue at the earliest."

Leh is over 200 kms away from where the Chinese are, so normal life continues. But Leh does blame Delhi and Beijing for allowing a border dispute to fester for over 50 years. David, who is an entrepreneur, said, "Both the governments should sit down and resolve this and draw the line. Do they want to leave this for another generation? Already 50 years have passed."

There\'s also some resentment at the government stopping its construction projects along the border areas after the Chinese objected.

"Our Guru Gobind Singh ji said if they don't understand words, you fight them. India needs to teach China a lesson. There is nothing wrong in that," a tourist said.

There's also some resentment at the government stopping its construction projects along the border areas after the Chinese objected. But the Army is seen in a positive light not least because its the biggest income generator in the region.
