India to increase troops at LAC if China does so - Daily News & Analysis

As the standoff continues at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, country's top strategy group, the China Study Group, led by the National Security Advisor was given a series of options to resolve the vexed issue by the Indian Army. The army believes that now it is up to the group to take a decision. However, there is no confirmation about the third meeting between the two armies, expected to be held on Friday after two flag meetings failed to break the impasse. Sources maintained that if the Chinese Army does not back out from the present location, the Indian Army might decide to set up a similar tented post in any other sector at the LAC to mount pressure on China. India will increase the number of its troops if the Chinese Army enhances the strength of its soldiers in the Daulat Beg Oldi sector, government sources said. The China Study Group which comprises the secretaries of the ministries of defence, home and external affairs, is handling the issue in consultation with PMO. According to official sources, the army has informed the government about various military options, though it is believed that it's a tactical issue and should be dealt with as such. Meanwhile, the army chief, Gen Bikram Singh, briefed defence minister A K Antony on the issue on Thursday.
