New Delhi, April 26, 2013, DHNS: A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir on Thursday shot down a plea made by the CBI as well as an NGO to send the petitions challenging summons issued against Airtel and Essar promoters to a coordinate bench monitoring the 2G case. The bench -also comprising Justice S S Nijjar- rejected the point of "propriety" by going ahead with hearing the arguments being advanced by senior advocate Harish Salve on behalf of Airtel head Sunil Bharti Mittal. The special 2G court had issued summons against Mittal and Ravi Ruia after taking cognizance of a CBI chargesheet on additional spectrum allocation during the NDA regime, despite the probe agency not making them as accused in the case. Senior advocate K K Venugopal, appearing for the CBI, submitted that the matter was relating to an order passed by the apex court on December 29, last year asking the probe agency to file the chargesheet. via Top Stories - Google News http://news.google.com/news/url?sa=t&fd=R&usg=AFQjCNGDk-0MeorIM5trWnxRW7TEMiuuJA&url=http://www.deccanherald.com/content/328570/sc-hears-plea-challenging-summons.html | |||
